How to Create Content that Resonates with your Target Audience

January 6, 2022

We all want to post on a daily basis, and to constantly be putting content out there into the world to see, believing that will increase our reach. What we fail to understand, however, is how consistent content is nothing without message resonance, and it would all be in vain if you aren’t striking a chord with your target audience.

What is Message Resonance?

Message resonance is when the message you're putting out there for your audience, what you actually offer people, strikes a chord with them.

So when they see that message, it's like, “Oh my gosh. Yes! I totally resonate with that.”

“I need that.”

“That sounds like exactly what I’m missing.”

That is message resonance.

Why is message resonance so important?

If you're constantly putting out content, sending out messages, filming videos, posting, captions, whatever it is, and it doesn't have message resonance, you're not going to make a single dollar.

You might as well be just screaming into the void.

It's like if someone keeps showing me TV ads of horror movies, it's not going to catch my attention because I’m not interested. If, however, it's something I am interested in, I'm going to be intrigued and want to know more.

That's why message resonance is so important.

How to have message resonance?

The first thing you need is clarity on your actual offer.

What are you offering?

Who are you helping?

Who's your niche?

What are their needs and desires?

What are the results they're actually looking for and how are you helping them achieve those results?

With your services or your product?

Your offer.

You need to be really clear on that offer before you can have message resonance.

Once you are clear on that offer, then you need to realize that you're not selling the actual service. You're selling a transformation.

You're selling futures, solutions, results.

So that is what you want to be communicating to your target audience.

And you're not just selling any futures or any transformations.

You're selling the exact transformations they need and are specifically looking for.

Hence why it's so important to be clear on your target audience and who you're actually serving.

The next step is to know how to communicate that to them.

First of all, you need to really dig into market research. I mentioned in one of my earlier videos that you need to imagine your niche as a ball leaking with holes, and you need to patch the holes with your offer.

That's the same thing with your message.

So pretty much in your message instead of creating the offer, what you're doing to get message resonance is you're defining what the holes are.

How do they describe the holes in their language?

How do they describe their needs?

How do they describe their desires in their language? Exactly how they say it.

What lingo do they use?

Do they say patients, clients or customers, for example?

Not only will that give you message resonance, but you will also be seen as somebody who knows their space or as an authority in that niche because you speak their language, you understand their sector.

And really, once you do have clarity on your offer, you know who you're serving.

You know their exact needs and desires.

You know how you're helping them make a transformation.

And you're communicating that by reflecting that language back to them and positioning your offer as a solution.

That's when you have message resonance, it's going to be like bang on.

You're posting content, you're sharing your message, and your target audience is responding.

They're interested, they're buying.

Now you have a successful business.

What's important to know when putting out content is that message resonance is not about you. It's about your audience.

So if you're out there putting out content all about you, nobody cares.

If you want people to be interested in you and what you're offering, you should provide a service or product that provides them with value because that’s the only thing they care about.

You should be communicating how you can add value in your content and defining your niche’s problems and desires and finding solutions for them and how you will help them with those solutions.

Message resonance ultimately means staying focused on who you're serving, treating yourself as a vessel for serving something greater than yourself, serving a niche that is all about them.

You're dedicating your business path to their needs. You serve the world.

The world will serve you back.

Serve the niche, speak their language, resonate with them, and you will be able to have a successful business.

Serve the niche and your content will strike a chord with people.

To Sum it up:

  • A consistent content schedule means nothing if your message does not resonate with your target audience.
  • Having clarity on your niche and learning their language will make your content reach them better.
  • Your content should not be about you, it should always be about who you want to provide for.
